Is aura a warning?
Epilepsy auras – An ‘aura’ is the term that some people use to describe the warning they feel before they have a tonic clonic seizure. An epilepsy ‘aura’ is in fact a focal aware seizure. Focal aware seizures (FAS) are sometimes called ‘warnings’ or ‘auras’ because, for some people, a FAS develops into another type of seizure.
Some people may describe their auras as:• a ‘rising’ feeling in the stomach or déjà vu (feeling like you’ve ‘been here before’);• getting an unusual smell or taste;• a sudden intense feeling of fear or joy;• a strange feeling like a ‘wave’ going through the head;• stiffness or twitching in part of the body, (such as an arm or hand);• a feeling of numbness or tingling;• a sensation that an arm or leg feels bigger or smaller than it actually is; or• visual disturbances such as coloured or flashing lights or hallucinations (seeing something that isn’t actually there). Information produced: November 2017
There are many different types of epileptic seizure. Any of us could potentially have a single epileptic seizure at some point in our lives. This is not the same as having epilepsy, which is a tendency to have seizures that start in the brain. Epilepsy is not just one condition, but a group of many different ‘epilepsies’ with one thing in common: a tendency to have seizures that start in the brain.

Even though visual aura is the most common, it can still be confusing for both patients and providers because it can be difficult to tell if it’s occurring in one or both eyes. A true aura will usually be in both eyes because it comes from the brain. Most visual auras happen in the occipital lobe, where a cortical spreading depression causes a small defect that gets bigger and bigger.
Sensory aura starts in the fingers and mouth, and it can spread or it can just be a tingling sensation. Sometimes it can be a sensation on one side of someone’s body. As visual aura, it’s usually a slow and progressive onset. Aphasic aura is rare and it presents with speech difficulty.

What does an aura look like?
A migraine headache is caused by changes in your nervous system. Migraines may progress through four stages: prodrome, aura, attack and postdrome. Not everyone experiences all the stages. Forty to 60% of people with migraines experience a prodrome phase — subtle changes one or two days preceding the attack.
- This may include constipation, depression, diarrhea, drowsiness, food cravings, or hyperactivity and irritability.
- Alternatively, you might not notice any symptoms.
- About 20% of people with migraines experience a more distinct migraine warning sign in a second phase, called the migraine aura.
- Auras are usually visual but can also be sensory, motor or verbal disturbances.
Visual auras are most common. A visual aura is like an electrical or chemical wave that moves across the visual cortex of your brain. The visual cortex is the part of your brain that processes visual signals. As the wave spreads, you might have visual hallucinations.
The best known visual aura is called a fortification spectrum because its pattern resembles the walls of a medieval fort. It may start as a small hole of light, sometimes bright geometrical lines and shapes in your visual field. This visual aura may expand into a sickle- or C-shaped object, with zigzag lines on the leading edge.
As it moves, it may appear to grow. Auras are not the same for all people, so you also might experience bright spots or flashes. Auras are sometimes accompanied by a partial loss of vision referred to as a scotoma. Auras commonly last 10 to 30 minutes. A sensory aura is also common.
- It can occur at the same time as the visual aura, directly afterwards or simply on its own.
- A sensory aura begins as a tingling in one limb or a feeling of numbness that travels up your arm over 10 to 20 minutes.
- The sensation can spread to one side of your face and tongue.
- Another aura causes transient speech or language problems referred to as dysphasic aura.
In the rarest of auras, the limbs and possibly the face on one side of your body might become weak; this is referred to as hemiplegic migraine. A migraine aura usually precedes the migraine attack but can also occur during the attack. A migraine aura can also occur without an associated headache.

There is evidence that the migraine aura is due to an electrical or chemical wave that moves across the brain. The part of the brain where the electrical or chemical wave spreads determines the type of symptoms you might experience.
This electrical or chemical wave can occur in areas that process sensory signals, speech centers or centers that control movement. The most common type of aura is visual aura, which occurs when a wave of electrical activity spreads through the visual cortex and causes visual symptoms. The electrical and chemical waves can occur with normal functioning of the nerves and do not cause harm to the brain.
Many of the same factors that trigger migraine can also trigger migraine with aura, including stress, bright lights, some foods and medications, too much or too little sleep, and menstruation. Although no specific factors appear to increase the risk of migraine with aura, migraines in general seem to be more common in people with a family history of migraine.

Seduction, sexuality and sin – Red by a large margin is the color most commonly associated with seduction, sexuality, eroticism and immorality, possibly because of its close connection with passion and with danger. : 55 Red was long seen as having a dark side, particularly in Christian theology.
It was associated with sexual passion, anger, sin, and the devil. In the Old Testament of the Bible, the Book of Isaiah said: “Though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be white as snow.” In the New Testament, in the Book of Revelation, the Antichrist appears as a red monster, ridden by a woman dressed in scarlet, known as the Whore of Babylon,
Satan is often depicted as colored red and/or wearing a red costume in both iconography and popular culture, By the 20th century, the devil in red had become a folk character in legends and stories. The devil in red appears more often in cartoons and movies than in religious art.
- In 17th-century New England, red was associated with adultery,
- In the 1850 novel by Nathaniel Hawthorne, The Scarlet Letter, set in a Puritan New England community, a woman is punished for adultery with ostracism, her sin represented by a red letter ‘A’ sewn onto her clothes.
- Red is still commonly associated with prostitution,

What causes aura colors?
According to many metaphysical practitioners and believers, aura colors are caused by vibrations. Every atom and molecule in the universe translates itself into patterns. The patterns emanate from the body as vibrations, and the human eye can be trained to perceive these vibrations as colors.
What is the vibration of the color red?
If you want to find the secrets of the universe, think in terms of energy, frequency and vibration.”.Nikola Tesla What is color? Out of the many vibrations reaching the earth a tiny octave is registered by the optic nerves. Our eyes respond to these particular vibrations with a reaction that we know as color.
- Medical science has proven that different colors have definite and various effects upon our nervous system and that they act quite independently of our eyes or minds.
- It has been suggested that the seven Colors correspond to the seven major planets and are radiating down to the earth at their specific rates of vibration.
A red rose absorbs all colors except red, and reflects the red light waves back to us and we say,”The Rose is red.” The perfect blending of the seven color rays in the bright sunlight gives us a white light. If the rays are split up by being passed through a glass prism they are at once visible as colors.
- In the same way a rainbow is produced by the minute prismatic effects of rain in the sky.
- The color rays are pouring down on the earth night and day.
- Each object and every atom responds to them, thereby announcing its own quality to those who are able to decipher the language of colors.
- All matter emits vibrations.
A human being also radiates subtle emanations of everything of which he is composed. A person with extra sensitive sight is able to see the c olors of this rays at a certain angle and speaks of them as the person’s aura. Here the colors in the order in which they appear in the spectrum, RED has the lowest vibration, being therefore the coarsest and most physically vitalizing: its place is just above the heat vibrations, and it is heat-giving in itself.
- Astrologers tell us that the “planetary color ” of Mars is red and has dynamic power over iron.
- It is iron that is responsible for our red blood-without it we would have some sort of pale liquid in our veins.
- Mars is considered the God of War, giving a martial spirit to all born under this sign, quick strength and force, power and leadership.
Red is the color associated with the1st chakra. In medicine we find that the effect upon patients of red-colored electric lamps is to stimulate, warm, excite and cheer: to increase the activity of the arterial blood: to energize. Red glass windows have much the same effect and also red walls and wall decorations to a lesser degree.
Red should be avoided by those who have too much iron, or who are in any condition of heat or inflammation. Red-haired people such as myself, excitable lunatics, and bulls should be surrounded by cooler colors if peace is to prevail! Red is the chief color in any herbs or medicines having a heating and stimulating effect, such as cayenne, cloves or musk.
Red is the color of Mars, whose stone is Ruby and whose metal is iron. It is the lowest of the seven colors, and it belongs to the lowest of the seven notes of the musical scale, which is C: and most martial music is in the key of C.

Colors, therefore, are of the deepest significance to us throughout all phases if our life. They have more influence on us then we can possibly imagine. - They actually prevent the radiation of personal magnetism, the give and take between human beings.
- They inhibit optimism and inspiration.
